Here at EVE, we combine our own wood waste with carbon and nitrogen sources from other local waste producers. By windrowing all these materials together and turning as needed, we can ensure a controlled decomposition process, bringing life to your soil and improving your vegetative growth. We specialize in producing aerobic humus compost and amended topsoil. As a permitted compost facility, we meet all requirements set by the Indiana Department of Environmental Management. EVE compost is STA Certified by the U.S. Composting Council.

Aerobic

Aerobic composting is a process that uses oxygen to break down organic waste into compost. Aerobic decomposition produces heat as a byproduct, which further accelerates the process and can help kill pathogens and weed seeds. Aerobic composting typically results in less unpleasant odors.

Humus

Humus is the end result of the decomposition process, a stable, dark-colored organic material that remains after most of the plant and animal materials have decomposed. Humus is good for plants and contains organic compounds which will nourish the plant as it grows.

Compost

Compost is partially decomposed organic material that is created through a controlled composting process, and it can be further broken down by soil organisms when added to soil.

Aerobic Humus Compost

Unlike standard compost, humus doesn't provide a significant amount of nutrients quickly; instead, it improves soil structure, retains moisture, and provides a habitat for beneficial microbes. Evanston Valley Enterprises manages our decomposition process so as to assure we reach the humus stage. Each batch is lab tested for quality assure.
